In the early 1980’s the first Rollerball pens were developed and launched to an awaiting market, with these clever pens having a tiny rolling ball inside which helped to produce a much smoother writing style and really helped to develop the technology which we now know in most modern pens.

The History of Parker Pens

Parker Pens was created in 1888 by George Safford Parker who was originally a sales person for another pen manufacturer.

The first fountain pen patent for the company was in 1889, success came in 1894 with the patent of the lucky curve feed which was a fountain pen that drew excess ink back into the body of the pen when it was not in use, saving and preserving ink. The patented lucky curve feed was used in various models up until 1928. Parker Pen was one of the most popular writing instrument brands available between the 1920’s and 1960’s with the invention of Quink being one of the most instrumental in the history of the fountain pen. Quink was a quick drying ink that eliminated the need for blotting; this allowed pens to be more versatile and mobile in their use. The best selling pen came as a product of Quink, this was the Parker 51.
